BIOGRAPHY

When others were deciding on whether to major in Business or Accounting in college, Los Angeles personal trainer Bill Calkins knew that he wanted to devote his life to changing the physiology of America.  Known as the "Doctor of Fitness", Bill, today, provides a precise exercise prescription for each of his personal fitness clients.

Born in Chicago, Bill's family moved to Los Angeles in 1959.  Growing up in the "Wonder Years"-like West San Fernando Valley he graduated from Taft High School in the mid-70's.  He later received a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology from Cal State Northridge.  Bill taught school for four years for the Los Angeles School District while coaching baseball and track for one area high school.  He then decided to enter the realm of personal fitness training and has experienced great success, both with his clients and his business "One to One Fitness".

The business is geared to the person who prefers the motivation and expertise that only a Personal Trainer can bring.  "One to One" clients receive Calkins' personal attention.  "My service appeals to people who don't like today's crowded gym scene," explains Calkins, "especially if they aren't comfortable with they way they look."

Calkins' philosophy is to train hard, but train smart.  It's training without straining.  In the privacy of their own home, Bill leads his clients through their custom exercise program until they achieve the goals they desire.  In the long run, he hopes that his clients will be sufficiently inspired to permanently integrate exercise into their lifestyles.

Hiring a personal trainer is a definite luxury.  Not everybody can afford it,  but some people can't afford NOT to have that extra push it takes to get into excellent shape.  Whatever the case, Los Angeles personal trainer Bill Calkins provides a service that bridges the gap between science and practical experience.
